3D Printed
Venturi
This project began as a collaboration between ADAPT studio and Boundless AM. The aim was to improve the design of an existing electro pneumatic system used in the mining industry, through the use of additive manufacturing. The project then extended on after ADAPT into full time work at Boundless AM.
The 3D printed geometry allowed for a great degree of freedom improving in many ways on the old assembly. FEA was used throughout the design process to guide design decisions, including fluid dynamics and topology optimisation. The final design was tested with many variations and was a success. The Venturi was run in tandem with the manifold project and is also made of 316 stainless steel.
